I wrote that &#8220;It is estimated that approximately 15% of all property for sale in the US is FSBO (for sale by owner). Online real estate in 2008 is like travel in 1998 &#8211; and FSBO is the stepchild of online real estate. Everybody knows that real estate is one of the largest industries on the planet in the offline world. As long as more gurus and dollars are invested in online music, video, travel, and job search, it should be no surprise that online real estate will continue as a dwarf vertical.&#8221;</p>

VisiStat,  a company that tracks Web stats for brokers, just unleashed a <a href="http://www.visistat.com/real-estate-2007-trends.php">report</a> for 2007, indicating that 62.2 percent landed on real estate sites by typing in the URL, 23.6 percent got there by search, and 16.2 percent by referral links.  These stats suggest that it is not all about the search engine.  Three-quarters of the visitors to real estate sites arrived because of <a href="http://southerncaliforniabroker.com/2009/01/31/traffic-branding-seo-sales-and-leads">branding and links</a>.</p>

Generating publicity would be an easy answer, but I believe it&#8217;s all about the conversation and adding a unique voice. Lately, there seems to be a lot of blog chatter seeping out of the real estate vertical. People you had never heard of, all of the sudden are the experts.
